INSIDER TIPS
Cash is king in Mexico. While the local currency is the peso, most places accept US dollars.
Evenings will be chilly, and the Mexico sun is bright - bring hats, sunscreen, and a sweater.
WHILE YOU’RE HERE
There’s fantastic food everywhere from fancy to hole-in-the wall goodness. A cocktail at Hotel San Cristóbal is must, but beyond that, see below for all of our favorites by location! Bolded are must visits!
Downtown Todos Santos
Taller 17 - the best baked goods around, good coffee too. El Refugio Mezcaleria - the best authentic food from an Aztec chef, ambiance is closer to a hole-in-the-wall, dinner only. Jazamango - upmarket, healthy, great cocktails. Miguel’s - real deal Mexican food hole-in-the-wall. Bar at Todos Santos Inn - fantastic cocktails, rated one of the best in Mexico. Pacifica Fish Market - lunch fish tacos or freshest fish around for cooking at home.
La Sonrisa De La Muerte - hip art gallery. Nomad Chic - hip women’s clothing store.
Pescadero
Baja Beans Cafe - hip coffee with nice outdoor seating, local market on Sundays. Hierbabuena Restaurant - healthy outdoor restaurant which cooks the vegetables & herbs from their own garden, best for dinner. Carnitas Machin - fabulous pork tacos of the plastic-chairs-next to-the-highway variety, lunch only. Agricole Cooperativa - local upscale market for fresh greens, veggies, and fancy salsa in a jar. Minisuper Munchies - convenience store meets wine bar with unique snacks and giant ice cream sandwiches. Noah Sushi - super fresh fish, low key ambiance.
Cerritos
Barracuda Cantina - tacos and cocktails in a laid back place, owned by our friend and very first bartender! Pescado or camarón are particularly great - closes at 7pm. Freesouls - healthy with a view and a good atmosphere. Hacienda Cerritos - beautiful villa on the hill, great view for a sunset cocktail.
Out of Town
Near Cabo / The Airport: Flora Farms (more casual) & Acre (more upscale) - situated in an organic working farm with great food and a unique atmosphere. Kid friendly.
El Triunfo: Cafe El Triunfo - for those wanting to drive, a baker from France found this remote historic town, about a 30 min drive away. There’s also signs to a cactus sanctuary that is rustic but worth a stop.
Past Cerritos: Blankets Factory - worth a stop if you want an authentic Mexican blanket or bag. He’ll even show you the loom he uses to make them and let you try a few rounds.
